It brings out all the belligerent, idiotic haters. It really does make me hate the FP more than anything else.

V-Hate kicked in yo... :D

Also not a fan of the belligerent haters. Maybe some of the passion comes from the feeling of how Honda just isn't giving enthusiasts what it used to, and it's frustrating to see them come up short. It still seems like they have the potential for some great things, which makes it that much more frustrating to see them not live up to it. (And I've lost count of how many Honda / Acura products I've owned, so it's not like I'm among the haters.)

It equally brings out the rabid fanboys who get easily upset by even the lightest hearted jabs at their precious vtec.

Haha. Nice. I'll have to use that one.

Yes and no. The new Civic is severely under rated. I have a 2008 and still sometimes dream about getting a new coupe.
And the Acura TL SH-AWD is every bit if not better (except in looks) than the Type-S it replaced. I mean there have been some real solid products recently, and people just don't see it.

Dunno, kinda looks like he raised some valid points, you ignored them, got mad, and started calling names without actually refuting anything he said.

On a side note, I hate the Integra Type-R vs. 201X Civic Si comparo tests. It's like comparing a 911 GT3 to a stock 911. Of course the stripped-out, barely road-legal model is going to beat out the fluffed up for your latte-sipping ass on the track. But nobody wants to live with that on the road - it's loud, designed to be driven at 10/10s and will break your spine on washboard roads.
If you're going to compare the new Civic Si to anything, it should be a GS-R. At least that was slightly more comfortable.

Actually I did. I posted the article with all of the data in it as my last response. But that's cool I guess that you glossed over tht and say that's what I did.

And once over, the R cost as much in 98 as an Si does today. So after inflation it would probably be quite a bit more also.

Well we're used to fighting for our lives. Because no matter how much evidence you present and how many times you tell people, Honda still gets no respect for performing just as well as other cars in their segment.

You called him an asshole, an idiot, and a dick in response to his valid points, none of which were at all refuted by your article. In fact, the article reinforces everything he said. Sounds like he won the argument to me.
Also worth noting, you're whining about "Honda haters," when he's actually arguing
in favor
of the Accord.

Haven't driven the latest Civic but by all accounts it's solid. I still regret selling my '99.
The TL 6MT is a hoot and a half to drive (even though they don't let you get the Advance package with the MT
Personally, although I haven't driven one yet, I'm generally disappointed with what I see about some new models like the RLX. It just seems like it missed the target.
I'm really hoping the TLX will be strong. Fingers crossed.

So you don't see where the TL beats the Accord with the OBJECTIVE numbers in the right column? And all the names I used were justified. His condescending tone and disrespect in his response came before those were ever brought out
So I didn't turn the other cheek. Big deal.

$24000 1998 dollars translates to roughly $34,000 and change - about $12,000 MORE than a 2013 Civic Si.

I'm a bit disappointed that PAWS apparently turned out to be a bust. Hopefully the Hybrid AWD version will be better.
Doesn't matter what they do to it though. People will still call it a hopped up Accord.

The majority of the time fanboys give people exactly what they are looking for, an irritated and exagerated response. Stop worrying about what others think, it's really not important.

Show me a direct quote of something he said, and then show me where the article you posted refutes that. Name-calling when you are unable to win an argument is juvenile and embarrassing behavior.

I mean I understand. It's classic trolling. But it's not too much to want something you love to at least be respected. :\

True. But some people they (or any other automaker for that matter) are never going to win over anyway.

Calling people names in an argument pretty much discredits anything valid you might be saying.
/Also the TL and the Accord are the same car, depending on generation, or at least they may as well be

There are plenty of people who respect Honda, it's just that most of them don't go around gushing about it because those 'haters' would then berate them. Be above that crap and ignore it.

"But the Accord is going to have a slight advantage at speeds above 15 MPH or so"
The articles I posted clearly show that the TL has the advantage all the way up to about 110-120mph.
And there's also the part where he said I have no clue about driving dynamics (such a wonderful statement, you're right I really shoulda gave him a chance!) when it's very obvious he has no understanding of how the SH-AWD system works and isn't like traditional systems.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 21:56 |

You have yet to include any facts backing those up, you've only told me "the articles clearly show" and "it's very obvious," but nothing to actually back them up. The articles have no data for acceleration above 15 mph and his claim was based on the Accord having a higher trap speed, which the articles back up. Nothing you have said at all substantiates your claims about the SH-AWD system, either. Saying "it's very obvious" isn't proof of anything, so how about you enlighten us on why it's better than lighter, more efficient 2wd setup.

its right there on the side of the article for both links O.o
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SH-AWD
and heres the article on SH-AWD. it can overdrive individual rear wwheels to push a car through a corner unlike traditional awd which actually causes understeer.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 22:17 |

30-50 and 50-80 times were only reported for the Accord, not the Acura, so it isn't "right there" as you claim. As for the Wikipedia article, it only explains what SH-AWD is and why it's theoretically better than traditional AWD, but provides no actual real-world backing to you claiming that it's good enough to overcome the 400lb weight difference and added drivetrain losses over the Accord's 2wd.

Sorry pal, us non-Honda guys have met TOO MANY people who inform us that their car has that sweet, sweet V-TEC, without actually knowing what it is, or what it does (other than "I hit X RPM and my car is sooooo fassssst).
Also (and sorry, but it must be said), wrong wheel drive. Sure, I want to love the Type-R...But it gets hard to take Honda seriously when they make a car like the Type-R, and it's still FWD.
I do reserve a small spot in my heart for the S2K and the NSX though...

Wrong wheel drive you say?
![]() 02/13/2014 at 21:19 |
|
Yes. While that car looks like a blast to drive, even the reviewer (at the 1:50ish mark) says that the car's propensity is to understeer. That car looks like it has an extremely polished suspension system, and potentially numerous other stability upgrades, and it still understeers. This is pretty much the definition of wrong-wheel drive.
Now, similar concerns could be levied against oversteer, but, in short, understeer is terrifying and hard to control (presumably you could learn how to control it I guess) and oversteer is both fun and terrifying, and somewhat more controllable.
I'm pretty sure my hell is just driving around, hitting understeer in every corner for the rest of eternity.
